Vegetable oils
Vegetable oils, or vegetable fats, are extracted from seeds or from other parts of fruits containing lipids (e.g olive oil, argan oil, coconut oil, …) In Aromatherapy, they are often used as carriers for essential oils but they can also be used on their own since they also have properties and benefits on the nervous system, cardiac system, lymphatic system, immunity, and the skin. Vegetable oils need to be 100%, organic and cold pressed.
Hydrolats (floral water)
An hydrolat (or hydrosol) is the aromatic water that is left over after essential oil distillation. It contains lower chemical molecules than essential oils can be used by most people. They are particularly great for cosmetic usage but can also be used in cooking or as a complement to essential oils in a aromatherapy treatment – where essential oils are too strong to apply on certain body area (mucous membrane, eyes, …) or for certain individuals (children, pregnant women, ..) They also need to comply to the same quality control as essential oils. Read more on hydrolats here.
